afraid of the b.r.u

hi peeps im having a down today,i think cos reasons on the form got col an myself arguing about the mess we are in 3 weeks to go untill court which will be bad enough.however what im afraid of is the o.r.phone call.when we come to the reasons on the form it is the 1500 that my friend wanted back when she found out i had consolidated a loan in january.i had to pay her back as she was in a mess herself.we had no thought of b.r.then,i did not find out untill april when col told me ..if you all remember my first hysterical post.now i learn you shouldnt pay a creditor back if you were in fact insolvent at the time, which we must have been!!i know i sound awfull but i will be the one to get a b.r.ucos consolidation loan in my name, not cols..so i have been venting my annoyance today at col.it is the b.r.u?/b.r.o that will be bad enough but its more the o.r.who may be stern with me on the phone.when really i didnt know i had done anything wrong.he may think im a baddie trying to fool him its all this that is worrying me,an now the time is nearly here,i am really having a wobbly.its bad enough my telling the o.r.im in a wheelchair an dont deal with money i left it to col.i dont want him to think im pulling a fast one. rambling now regards penny an a just shouted at col.

Money penny, why be afraid of a BRU/BRO. If it happens, ir is likely to be for a short period (preferring a creditor to the tune of £1500 isn't the most heinous of crimes), and doesn't really make too much difference to those who don't intend borrowing more money, running a company or standing for Parliament :)

I would be very surprised if the OR is "stern" to the extent that you need to be worried about it. Of course, they have to ask questions, but the best approach is to be scrupulously honest and open. They know when people are trying to hide things, and they also have enough experience to know when people are being honest :)

Penny/Col....please dont be scared (easier said I know) BUT the receiver is a normal human being like you doing the same job day in day out...they understand people's circumstances & really are not half as bad as your thinking they will be....at the end of the day they've probably seen a whole lot worse in their time

  • hi money penny,

i too was quite scared of the OR when I had my interview about giving reasons and explaining things. turned out i was worrying for absolutely nothing. the OR are not there to judge how you got into the situation but are there to assess the current situation and how to go forward.

the amount you paid your friend is fairly small really and the OR may not show any interest in it, however, the worse they can do, is simply write to your friend and ask for it back, being the amount it is, i can't see them doing that, but, anything can happen.

At any rate, please don't worry about them and least of all, don't be scared of them. Bankruptcy is a turning point and things, in theory can only get better from that point. For me, it was the best thing I did and the experience wasn't anywhere near as bad as I thought it would be.

hope it works out for you. :)

    Hiya Penny...(.& Hi Col)

What is done is done.....it can`t be undone.

We do things with the best of intentions & when hindsight shows us that we were wrong then so be it...thats life.

Try not to worry about the whys & hows....concentrate on just thinking that since you realised that things were going wrong....ie April/May onwards you have taken steps to correct the situation & that was when you realised that you were insolvent.

In terms of the reasons why section on the BR form..... do PM Beth (Bethankim) ....she is just brilliant at making sure that your situation is clearly stated. She is an absolute angel !

    Have a good weekend Honey...lots of <<<hugs>>>
