Went for the HSBC rate matcher deal on the last day (Jul 31st). - 75%LTV (4.79% 5yrs fixed)
Declined today as they cant verify some details ! Earlier the UW had asked for non-HSBC bank statements which we had sent across. Gutted. Asked him if i can send any more documents to prove any doubts. Nope. they have decided it seems!
He said i could go to the branch with all originals and apply again.
Is this a plot to get us to apply at the current higher interest rates?

No indication from them as to what they can't verify?0

All he would say is they could not verify certain transactions. I asked him which ones and if they would like the originals.
Also he said the documents were photocopies. We were asked to submit the documents in branch to be forwarded to the UW dept. The branch took copies of the documents on their letterheaded paper and sent them across.
I dont know what the reason is and they seem not to want me to prove them otherwise. Not sure what to do now..0 -
Anyone know if they will reconsider if i apply again (a fresh appln) in branch?
Will they take into consideration that my appln with phone banking was declined?
So worried..0 -
I applied for a mortgage with HSBC, went to all the trouble of having documents verified in branch, etc. At the end of it all they declined my application, giving nonsense reasons. Their rate was in the region of 2.5%
I applied for a mortgage with Abbey at around 4% and was accepted no questions asked. Your deal and circumstances might be different, but I honestly think HSBC had more applicants than money and just didn't want the business.0
