Hi,
Bit of a weird one here. I have ust graduated from Uni this year and have decided to stay in part time work for rest of the year.
I have just been offered a bit of charity work and a traveling holiday in Australia. I had the money to pay for my flights and hotels already. I decided I need around £3000 to live off, as I will be away for 4-5 months. I decided to apply for a £3000 graduate loan from my bank, Barclays. They told me that I was declined and to check my Credit Report as to why. The only credit I have is a student over draft and a mobile phone, which there have been one or two late payments but CreditExpert.co.uk says they are all settled and satisfactory. I noticed my score was still in the poor section tho, so I ordered my full report to notice that I have my fathers records showing in my report too (We share the same name, and live at same address). He has one account as "default" and has mortage and a big credit card bill. I spoke to the guys at CreditExpert and they have told me that it will be changed but will take over a month as thye have a huge back log of work.
Now the problem. I go away in 20 days and will not be able to re-apply in order to get my graduate loan. Is there any other company that can offer me a £3000 loan without trying to scam me or is there any other advise you guys could give me?
Thanks for any help guys, and sorry for the long thread.

Can't you just appeal to your bank? Go in, in person and talk to someone about it?Vanquis- Limit £1250, balance £0
Capital One Classic- Limit £800, balance £0
Natwest Current Account- £800 OD limit, approx £600 OD
Loan- £3300, will be paid off by Dec 09
Student Loan- paid off Dec 09 (That's £150 a month extra! Woohoo)
Empire Catalogue Account- £750 limit, balance £300 -
Thanks for the reply, clarence83.
I just rang the personal banker who dealt with my query. He said they can't do anything and that they can only use my credit score when applying.0 -
Rubbish - get them to manually underwrite the loan using correct information - this seems like a classic computer says no answer and given your borrowing is negligible, I'm sure you should be eligible for this product.
R.Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

Thanks Rafter.
I'll head down to my bank in person today and see what I can get out of them. Is it worth taking the print outs from CreditExpert.co.uk showing my fathers accounts?0 -
don't see why not - they can obviously see there is an error then.Smile

I've worked at the IT end of financial institutions sending data to Experian, Equifax etc & also using their data for new business decisions (ie do you grant a loan, card etc) based on the information they hold. Name & address are part of the critical data but some years ago (at last 7 years, probably much more) another critical field was the applicant's DOB (Date of Birth) - they are not allowed to make a decision based on another person's DOB, it contavenes the 3rd person's Data. This bank is not permitted to incorporate your father's debts into your profile if they are not actually linked products.
Good Luck0 -
Well, I printed off my credit report and took it to the bank. The guy said there is nothing he can do till I get a notice of correction on my account, fair enough. I asked for a notice of correction from Experian and followed up on it today. They are saying it's gonna be another 2 weeks for it to appear of my account, as they have a back log of work to complete.
I go away on 13th Sept0
