Can I just check that the debt is not statute barred (if it is you have a lot more bargaining power) and that you do actually owe the debt (it wouldn't be the first time a debt co. has got the wrong person).

I'm sorry, I am not sure what that means?
It is definately my debt if that's what you mean?
Jes - I do have online banking so will check if it is a standing order or direct debit. Thanks so much for your advice.0 -
You could also seek the advice of the CAB or National Debtline. Their advice is totally free of charge and they will help you to set up and administer a debt management plan.
