Pensions

I've got several pensions kicking around, two old company pensions from previous employers, a personal pension (which I paid into for about 8 months then decided I couldn't afford it! Stupid I know :o) and a local government pension which I started in January this year when I started my new job.

How will I know which ones the OR will be interested in in years to come? ie how do you find out if they're approved schemes or not?

Also the forms ask you how much you've contributed and how much the pensions are worth. With regards to that info, I really havent got a clue!! I've got no paperwork for the two old company pensions all I know is what companies they were with! Will the OR be able to find the details he needs?

  • It is my understanding that the OR can't touch funds that are in pensions any more. Unless you've suddenly dropped £50,000 and a house into one the week before you go BR!

You will need to do a bit of research to find out the details of each pension though (and if you know the companies they are with that shouldn't be too hard), just so the OR can check them to see if there has been anything dodgy going on.
