Have I stuffed my Statute Barred Protection.

Mortage cleared off to Northern Rock over 6 years ago. Left with the unsecured part of about £18k. No contact at all apart from (apparently I had "agreed" to pay £1 per month to a solicitor, DLC claim I paid £6) No one wrote to me or contacted me ever again. Unfortunately I do not remember much about this at all. (regretably, I was living with me old ma, she had alzheimers and terminal cancer - God rest her soul, I really don't remember much about this period, I was suffering from depression and could barely function, but happily a good doc and decent regime of medication got me out of that dark place) About 2 or 3 months ago DLC appeared on the scene, Bill demanding payment etc. Sent them off one of your cracking Statute Barred Letters, absolute silence until they came up with the £6 fiasco. I still admitted nothing and asked them repeatedly for notarised documentary evidence to substantiate their claim. All I get are 8.00 am telephone calls and NO LETTERS! I tell them not to phone me, its harrassment and to write instead. They don't! Am I stuffed? I am currently lingering under psoriatic arthritis and am disabled, don't have much income now. Take the view that if a Court decides that I'm stuffed, then £20 per month - all I could afford if things went wrong- is a damn sight better than !!!!!! all if made bankrupt. Something being better than nothing at all.

Opinions from better qualified or experienced souls would be gratefully recieved!

if its been six years since your last payment it will be statoury barred
i suggest you write to them with regarding their harrassment and also forward a copy to the oft and fsa

As robpw2 says - if it has been more than 6 years it is statute barred and there is nothing DLC can do. If they take court action then you can defend. Definately write a letter of complaint about the harrassment and copy to OFT.
You could also check your credit file as it will not show if it is more than 6 years since your last payment.

DLC will just be trying it on
