Hi,
I am looking for get my first mortgage ( excited!). I been saving along time and think now could be a good time to get on the first run of the ladder. I have 30K saved, and only need 65K mortgage. I have already had a meeting with the halifax who have given me a promise but I dont think they are the best rates for the type of mortgage I am thinking of.

I am looking at 5 year fixed, and best I can see is the co-op, with 75%LTV, this comes in at 4.99%, can anyone beat this (1k fee)? Does anyone have any good or bads things to say about the co-op banking group?

  • That seems ok for a 5 year fix to me, when I was looking most of the advertised rates were closer to 5.5%...sorry I can't be more help!

Well done on saving your deposit and goodluck finding a good rate, Im sorry I dont know what the best rate is now but the one you mention sounds pretty good.
  • i was also interested in this deal. I rang to get an agreement in principle, but they don't offer that on this mortgage - you need to have an offer accepted on the house apparantly
