Cahoot limit increase

I borrowed £4000 from Cahoot in January to pay towards a new car, I decided that i may ask for another £2000 to consolidate some other debts as it would make life easier for me - so i thought i would apply for an increase on my flexible loan account, Before i applied i sent them an e-mail to ask how much my overall credit limit would be (no point in applying if i had already reached it!) and they told me it £9000 - so i thought i should be ok.

I applied in March but didnt hear anything for a week so i called them and was told that i had applied too early as they couldnt increase it until the account had been open for 3 months (even though a friend of mine had applied after 2 1/2 months and was accepted?) they told me to call again in a few weeks - so i did and was told i would have to wait until they had recieved my next direct debit payment (due 26th april) before they could look at it.
Iam now a bit fed up as iam going on holiday in 10 days and wanted it sorting before then.

I guess my question is this- do i forget Cahoot and apply elsewhere for the £2000 or wait for Cahoot?
My problem is if i apply elsewhere and am turned down will that effect my application with cahoot? (will they do a credit check for a limit increase for an existing customer?)
Iam a bit anoyed with Cahoot customer services at the moment so do i risk it and go elsewhere?

Hope you can help.
