So you are an IFA............among the last type of person I'm gonna take advice from in future.

I'm sure my protest vote won't make any difference.....but hey....I'll protest anyway.

    Standard didn't listen in 2000......so I ain't listening now!

Who's to say I'll be any better off at the end?.......and what guarantee does that advice have?.............none!

You know nothing about me to make any sort of assumption about what type of person I am. Therefore I accept you are an idiot based on the two posts you have made on this thread.

Actually I think that's a fact. Standard life needs new capital, that's why it's going public. If it can't get new capital the company will slowly die - it won't be able to compete in the market. This means we the members, who own it as WP investors, will be taking higher and higher risks.

A fate like Equitable Life, which was unable to demutualise, would be likely in the end.We are lucky that our company was caught in time,in fact. :( It was a close run thing. That would mean we made even more losses than we have already.

There's really no alternative I'm afraid. And at least we get some money out of it now, with the possibility of more later.
    Trying to keep it simple...;)

It's a free country so you can vote no if you wish. All I would do is encourage you to use your vote. Its important that the members of Standard Life have their say. Some will undoubtedly vote no as you plan to do. The main thing is the turnout is high so if they get the 75%+ they require it can be taken as a representative figure by the court. If it's 75% of say 800,000 voting then the court might not find that acceptable and the flotation may not go through.

    Quite.

And dunstonh and I only agree in once in a blue moon ;).

It's a free country. You could vote "no".

    Although the words

NOSE SPITE MY FACE OFF CUT MY TO

    immediately spring to mind :(

Yeah to be honest I would hate for the board of directors to mistake my better judgement of a YES vote as an endorsement of their management.

So anything to make their life difficult is my idea of revenge....

hence my ideal voting result of 75.000000000000000000000000001% in favour of DM.
