            1. You interviewed the claimant
2. You paid cash in hand to the claimant. No as she never worked for me
3 and 4 need swopping around
3. She signed a piece of paper that clarified she did not work for you
4. She went to the CAB and they sent you a letter re alleged monies owed
5. You paid the alleged monies owed rather than go to court
6. The CAB have now requested copies of P45 etc which you do not have
7. The claimant never received a contract of employment nor was any PAYE deducted nor reported.0 -
Things seem very complicated: perhaps you should seriously consider getting some Citizen's Advice for yourself. I can't see much else to do in connection with the latest CAB letter other than to write back giving a full explanation of events. You are certainly not the only person who has done something that they later realised did not solve the problem but made it worse.
When I said that I did not understand why CAB would write to you on the basis of no evidence, I was referring to the first letter, before you paid anything. I can't understand why they would threaten court action when at the time there was only the woman's word that she had worked for you and that you owed her money. I thought that they always check everything and ask for documentary proof.
And if she signed a paper saying that she never worked for you, I don't get why CAB now want a P45.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

I don't think anyone can advise properly unless you are prepared to disclose why you paid her money in the first place. Generally people don't go round giving cash out.

Have you checked that it is really a CAB which is writing the letters? Someone could copy a letterhead design and put on it any contact details they like?0

Re the payment: my understanding is that Jack West paid her in return for a written declaration that she had never worked for him, just to avoid a court action as he has a lot of unpleasant things going on in his life. The payment was not intended to be an admission that he owed her some money as an employer. Perhaps I have got this wrong, the whole thing is very confusing.
If this is the case, it is strange that CAB now want the P45. JW mentioned a language problem, these can certainly cause a lot of confusion all round.
Perhaps she thought that she had been offered a job by JW and is really claming for compensation because it did not materialise!Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?
