Hmmm.. I'll just have to make sure I educate my children and make damn blo*dy sure they don't go down the route I and their dad have gone down.
You shouldn't feel bad as many people got suckered into debt one way or another. What's important is that you've learnt from it and willing to pass on your experience to your children. :beer:0 -
Pobby don't worry, I know what I have done is wrong, the decisions I made were pathetic and now I've learnt only because I've been burnt.
We're supposed to learn from our mistakes, as individuals we have learned, we know we have to instil the value of the penny to our children and we missed out big style on that.
Too many making money out of debt then I guess, it'll never end - I feel mad and empowered to campaign about something but god knows what! I think i'll just look after me and mine, let the rest be fools but .. oh, I don't know0 -
:T exactly. i made some stupid decisions in the past but have got on with sorting them and am now much wiser, and im going to make sure my kids are too....shakerbaby wrote: »You shouldn't feel bad as many people got suckered into debt one way or another. I do feel that I havn't had the influence in my life to make me see that you should be wary of borrowing money.
It started at 18 with me. I worked 2 days a week earning £380 a month but got a loan for a brand new car. I should never have been granted that loan. Should I have known better at 18, Im not sure! That is why i'm in a mess over 10 years later. Marry a man that did the same sort of thing and as a family your bu*ggared
No the lender should have known better. Irresponsible lending have got you and society into this mess.0 -
I feel mad and empowered to campaign about something but god knows what!
What about a campaign against Channel 4's 'How Clean is Your House?'. It's bascially just two women ripping the p*ss out of someone with mental health problems, which has resulted in them not being able to care for themselves properly.
Seems a good enough cause. I'll help out. We can have placards.0 -
I am often amazed at where the lender thought the money was coming from to pay off all these loans.0

Wasn't the game parcelling it up? I lend loads of money out to Numpties, and a few prime loans as well. Then sell the whole lot on, rated as AAA credit - and off we go again. There was a bit more financial chicanery on top, but that was about the size of it.I am often amazed at where the lender thought the money was coming from to pay off all these loans.0 -
Yep, got it in one.0

with regard to 'easy' borrowing, irresponsible lending, 125% mortgages and like.
I've grown up my adult years (late 90's/00') thinking I can get a new car when I want, getting mortgage and a load of money to furnish. I've been given more and more money on credit cards and rearranged different loans a fair few times. Financially I have acted pathetically and only now am I relising that this behaviour is not the norm, it's not acceptible and what I'm wanting you to tell me (being a complete ignoramous when it comes to money or business - be kind, im asking a fair question and being honest)is every one has learnt their lesson and credit will be much harder to get in the future.
What do you think?
