Does anyone know where i can get some cheap boneless cod from?
I want to try my hand at batch cooking some fish cakes and home made fish fingers.
I know how to make fish cakes but what ratio of fish to potato should i use for it to be cost effective and make around 24.
Thanks all

use pollack or coley instead of cod, will work out cheaper
salmon is nice in fishcakes too and you can usually pick that up quite cheap0 -
Pollock is £3.49 for 1kg (frozen) in Lidl - and it is lovely. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

Sainsbury's White Fish Fillets from the Basics range is £1.94 for 520g. I have used this to great success in Thai curries and fish pies, so I'm sure it would be absolutely fine in fishcakes0

Tesco's Market Value Frozen White Fish Fillets is the same price. It's Alaskan pollock and would do absolutely fine for fishcakes.0 -
thanks all
I brought the tesco value white fish fillets in the end. I'm not a big fish fan at all, so that's why i go for the mild flavour and texture of cod.
I have to give thumbs up to the fish i got couldn't tell the difference except it was bit darker in colour than cod. I ended up with 12 fish cakes and 20 fish 'nuggerts'.
I used half and half fish/potato and seasoned with corriander instead off the usual parley, dried chilli flakes, garlic and lemon juice and they was fab.
For the nuggets i cut up the fish into chunks and dipped in flour, then egg, before coasting in homemade wholemeal bread crumbs mixed with parmasan. Can't tell you how they taste as there in the freezer for later on in the month.0
