In what circumstances would they do this? As since my soilcitor contacted them about arrears from 1997-2005, they have not responded since March this year

Power to write off arrears
(1)
The Commission may extinguish liability in respect of arrears of child5
support maintenance if it appears to it—
(a)
that the circumstances of the case are of a description specifiedin regulations made by the Secretary of State, and
(b)
that it would be unfair or otherwise inappropriate to enforceliability in respect of the arrears.
