Deciding whether to go alone or with CCCS/Payplan

Hi
We have £23000 of debt on 3 credit cards. We are managing to make the monthly payments but interest rates are so high and cannot transfer them or lower interest rates.
We never have any spare money for emergencies/ birthday presents/ christmas/ car tax/ repairs. If anything likes this crops up we panic. Should we carry on as we are or go with a DMP.

Have you called CCCS/Payplan? If not ring them - you don't have to sign anything - just get their FREE advice....
I note that you have previously posted you 'SOA' - were you able to make any savings?"Debt makes plans for you" - A quote from my friend Catherine. How true!0 -
I think getting advice from payplan or cccs would be a good idea but I would also see if you can pay it off yourselves, have you looked at how you might be able to increase your income- maybe extra work. Paying it off yourselves is difficult as is going through a dmp but it is a wonderful feeling to be in control of you finances no matter how bad the debt - look at ours! We are going it alone and I am working extra hours here and there as well as working 30 hours in my regular job. DH works irregular 40 hour week and we have 3 children. It's not easy but we are glad we are doing it this way. Good luck with what you decide to do.Debtfree JUNE 2008 - Thank you MSE:T0

Its up to you lots of people find them helpful. I didn't they wanted us to go bankrupt, CCCS seem very inflexable but payplan seems a bit better.Barclaycard 3800
