Is it possible to give back a company car but keep the fuel card benefit for business and private use but in a private vehicle?

Yes it is. The chances are that the full spend for fuel will be recorded on your P11D and you will be taxed on the lot. Then you can prove to them how much of it was for business miles and they will deduct that from the tax again.
