Think that works out, at first it was priced at £299.99 then reduced by £100 to £199.99 so they mean a third off the original price ;) Shame as I got one a few months ago from them on me points, still paid under £100 in cash thanks to natural collection and fragrance free! so still happy. This is one seriously good player as well so if you can - get one ;)

  • For those of you that missed out on this bargain!

(I was one of them!) ;D

Currys currently have them in stock on website@£189.73,
USE CODE: DCBYAW to get 5% off and then the FREE DEL code: XMASFD

This brings it down to £180.24 delivered not as good as original post but still a bargain all the same!

Boots in Cambridge had about 30 for sale yesterday at £169.99 (and 929 points - 250 extra with a voucher from the machine).

The sign on them said £199.99, but they came up at the reduced price when checked on the till.

I have one of these and have to say I'm not impressed with it on the playing front. It's progressive scan but says in the instructions, if you have a progressive scan CRT screen then PS shouldnt be used - I tried, and it flickers - badly.

It takes 20 secs to start-up, it can't be simply made multiregion and the fast-forward and rewind isn't too good.

It's well put together alright, but as a PLAYER - I dont like it. However the recording picture is very, very good and it has VBR recording - meaning you can fill a disc with a one hour 20 min show, instaed of CBR which would compress a 1 hour 20 min vid using 2 hour compression - you with me? :D

    Thought I'd let ya know.
if i had known then what i know now

I have all Philips equipment and progressive scan only works with a region 1 DVD, and the quality is not as good as when I use Pixel Plus mode on the TV.

I think the Panasonic DVD recorders are over rated, and Philips make better machines but have reliability issues.

Probably Sony and Pioneer, is the brand to go for at the moment for DVD recorders, but they are a bit expensive, which is why Panasonic and Philips are the most popular..

Bought one last week from local boots priced £169.99 (even though it states £199.99), cant fault it, bought my RAM disks from panasonic eshop which after quick search seemed to be the cheapest for the cartridge type 9.4GB disks, see:

Likewise, I picked up one at my local store at Glasgow. Clearly states £199.99, but comes up with an 'e' price when scaned. Used the advantage card as well to get a further £9 or so off it.

    Thanks
