Get a decent price for the wifes Golf Cabriolet

We are currently changing the wifes Cabriolet for a mini. Purely because my eldest daughter has started to learn to drive and the Golf would cost too much to insure.
The problem is the place where I'm getting the mini from has offered me over £2000 below the book price on the Golf. It should at least warrant the 'Good' book price as it has done only 24000 miles where as the average for a 1999 vehicle is 50000. Is it worth the hassle of me selling it privately. Any feedback from moneysavers who have been in a similar situation would be appreciated.

All the best to all of you and yours!

Don't only check the book price guides but also places like autotrader for similar cars.

You will get a better idea of whta you may get privately from sites like https://www.autotrader.co.uk.

    Hope that helps.

    Two problems:

MINIs are still in great demand. With mass market cars, the dealer will discount the new car by enhancing the PX price on the trade in. With the MINI, they don't have to discount, so the salesman will just offer what they will receive when they trade it on.

When are you taking delivery? If you are not taking delivery of the car for a few months it may be worth telling the dealer that you will trade it in unless you sell it yourself beforehand. As the dealer will be just passing the car on for minimal or no profit, they will not care. However if you are taking delivery soon, trying to sell a cabriolet privately in January......
