Disability living allowance and affordability

Options
Myself and my wife have a 5 year old son with aspergers and we receive £380 per month disability living allowance. We are both in full time employment and would be looking to move in around a years time when we have increased equity in current house - luckily we are now on SVR of 2.5%. When we come to move, will our building society take into account the disability living allowance when calculating our affordability.

Many thanks in advance

Some might. Others either never take it into account or would not in this instance because it is not paid to either of your for your benefit, but is for the benefit of your son who is not party to the mortgage.

So basically, yes/maybe depending on the lender.

Is the Disability Living Allowance set for life or do you need to apply again in a couple of years time?

    Who is your building Society?

Relying on DLA is probably not the best way forward as far as affordability is concerned.

    Many thanks for your information.

Our current lender is Nationwide and his DLA will be reviewed at the end 2011.

We would basically looking at moving to a more expensive region for more appropriate schooling to help with his disability.
