Co-op cashminder account card reader on it's way.

Hi All,
Just received this in my inbox this morning, I don't think it has been posted before so I will copy and paste the email.

Oh and I just checked the insolvency register this morning and it turns out I had Early Discharge on the 03/08/2009:j
The only downside is I was made redundant again on friday but the job prospects are looking up for me.

Dear Mr Damn it,
Banking online is quick, easy and convenient. In addition to this, The Co-operative Bank is making it even more secure because we are introducing a Chip and PIN Card Reader (Card Reader).
The Card Reader is similar to the Chip and PIN machines used in shops and restaurants and like these, it is designed to provide an extra level of protection and security, to help safeguard you against fraud when banking online.

Enhancing your security

The Card Reader is a small, easy-to-use device which works separately from your computer. There are no wires or plugs and you don't need to install any additional software. Always ensure your Card Reader is safe and keep it within easy reach whenever you need to manage your Co-operative Bank account online.
Before you use your Card Reader for the first time you will need to activate it by inserting your debit card into your Card Reader, selecting the identify button, entering your PIN number and pressing OK. This is simply to activate your Card Reader and no transaction will be processed.

You do not have to use your Card Reader for all online banking transactions, but you may need to use it when you want to:
  • set up or amend standing orders
  • set up, amend or make bill payments
  • set up, amend or make funds transfers.
You can use your Card Reader to carry out transactions online in three simple steps:
  • log on to our internet banking service in the usual way
  • insert your debit card into the Card Reader
  • follow the on-screen instructions.
The next step

Your Card Reader will arrive in the next 10 days, accompanied by a user guide. If you have an account with both The Co-operative Bank and smile only one Card Reader will be issued. This can be used for both of your online accounts. In the meantime, visit our website page co-operativebank.co.uk/reader if you want to find out more.

Yours sincerely

  • Hi there,

We got our card reader a week after opening the account, and have had it for about 3 months now, think we have only used it once for changing a SO, other than that never asked for general day to day uses.

Like it alot more than the HSBC dongle security device. Cool sticking your bank card in.
