Paying final payment today!!

Hi
I have got £139 owing on Kays catalogue and I am going to pay it off today!!! It was nearly £500 when i joined MSE back in December---so feeling really pleased today for all the helpful advice I have been given!! Thats one debt gone!!
I have about £700 still owing on Capital One
I have just got back all my statements from 2002 when i got the card and I have paid out £700 in fees/late payments etc
so today I have posted a preliminary letter to them asking for the fees to be refunded(got the letter off a link on here!!!).
Fingers crossed I get that back as that will be my account cleared!!!

Thanks for all the great help on these boards. It has inspired me to go back to Weight Watchers tomorrow and get this last 2 stone off
I lost loads and then stopped going!! I realise i need the support of the group to help me lose it(I know it is £5 a week but for me it is £5 well spent!!!)If i can sort my money out i can sort my weight out too!!!

Thanks again everyone
xx

Well done Gilly41! Isn't it a good feeling when yu start to take control of tings even if it's nerve racking a first?

Can I just ask- I've got an outstanding amount on a capital one visa card too and although I'm up to date now, have incurred charges over the years. Can you claim those back? I thought it was only bank accounts but I suppose it makes sense for cc's too.
  • Well done hope capital one pays out. I've never had a late charge with them so I'm stuck paying £680 off at 26% (looking at it like that makes me want to run away screaming)

    Hi
Yes you can write to Capital one asking for your statements back for the last 6 years ---they are obliged to send them. I then totted all my charges up ---£700 exactly!!! I got a letter off a link on here---and hey presto that has gone off today----and yes you can claim Credit card charges the same as bank charges.
There is a post all about it---sorry I am useless at finding links but someone will help if you leave a message.
    Thanks again everyone

Thanks for that Gilly41. Just another question-sorry to be a pain! Did the charge you for your past statements or can you just ask them for how much you have incurred in charges to be sent to you?

    Hi
No they didnt charge me. If you ask someone they will point you in the right direction of the link----there is a letter on there you can copy asking for your statements. You give them 40 days to reply and mine came well within the time limit.
    Good luck
