I'm after a kenwood mixer. I make my own bread, but would like something to do the kneading. Would the Kenwood Chef KM336 800w be strong enough to do bread dough, or would I be better going for a more powerful and expensive model? I have my eye on a KM010 which is 1400w and also has a food processor, but although I'm willing to spend the money on one, I don't know if the KM336 will do just as good job with mixing bread dough for less money.
What's your experience of using a kenwood and which model have you got?
Thanks

I've got a Kenwood Chef with the 800w motor and I've always found it's fine for kneading bread. It's still much more powerful than the KitchenAid retro look mixer. However I don't do big batches of dough so if you want to do three loaves at a time, for example, the more powerful one might be better. It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

The bread receipe I usually use makes 2 x 2lb loaves. It's measured using american cups, so not sure how much flour that is.
Still undecided at the moment, but sounds like I could get the km336 (800w) version for bread and it should cope.0 -
I can't remember what mine is and I'm not home at the moment to check. You can't compare the speeds of the Kenwood and the Kitchen Aid as they have different drive systems. IIRC the Kitchen Aid is a direct drive system and the Kenwood is indirect which (I'm told!!!) means that the Kitchen aid doesn't t need to be as powerful to get the same effect.Piglet

I didn't know that about the Kitchenaid, thanks. However I have quite a few attachments for the Kenwood so even though I like the looks of the Kitchenaid, I'll probably have to stick with KenwoodIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0
