Ringing round getting 'date incurred'!

No question really just a whinge.

Currently ringing round all my creditors to find out when last transaction was or when account was taken out etc (cos I have absolutely no idea, not even a rough idea on the year never mind month or day!) Why can't they just answer a simple question without trying to cause you massive amounts of stress. It's almost like now we're got you on the phone we're not going to let you get off it until you've agreed to something totally ridiculous!

Obviously self-inflicted cos I'm the one ringing them putting myself within their grasp, but still annoying all the same :(

    Hi,

It's really not that important - just put your best guess - "3 years ago" or "more than 5 years ago" or simply "not sure "

Similar with "what was the debt for " - if it was a c/c or o/d then household expenses - living expenses - general expenses etc - no more than two or three word answers.

The OR can get all the info he wants from lots of sources you just need to provide what you reasonably can.

Best guess for debt balances are fine too.

I dont know if this helps but we signed up for free credit report online with Experian/Equifax. Just make sure you cancel before the months free trial ends. Could see all our debts on these, when taken out, payments missed, settled debts etc. Got access to Equifax straightaway but had to wait couple days for PIN no for Experian before could access.

One other point, Experian had ALL debts, Equifax was missing a big one !!
