Can I mend my underwired bikini - the wire has popped out?

Options
My favourite (read 'only' - but very flattering!) bikini's underwiring has popped out of the 'centre bit'. It hasn't made a hole in the material. Is it salvageable? It is 6 years old but only gets an outing once a year, so isn't in bad condition apart from this. Anyone know what's inside that secures the wire? If I undo some stitching, can the wire simply be popped back into whatever was containing it before or has something disintergrated - I'm a bit lax on my hand-washing and it does go in the washing machine from time to time. Any advice gratefully received!

Yes it can (I've done it with bras before). Stuff the wire back in, get a small folded over piece of material or ribbon to fold over and cover the top of the wire (to pad it and prevent it poking back through), you might have to do a few stitches to keep it in place like a little cap over the wire.

Then carefully with tiny stitches, stick back over the gap it came through.

Exactly the same happened to me this year and I 'patched' it just as newly wed suggested. It's a favourite bikini because it's not halterneck which seems to be all you can find this year.

Unfortunately, while on holiday the wire wore through the patch. I took out both wires and it was absolutely fine! (but you might be more well-endowed than me thriftyk:rotfl:)

Sadly, it cannot be repaired, so you'll have to go topless on the beach. :D
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.
