What could this beetle/weevil be.

Sorry I can't post a picture but I have found three little weevil type beetles about the size of a ladybird, gingery brown in colour and with a rounded body.Quite pretty realy. They curled up dead when I touched them and then started up again just like weevils do.
They were just hiding behind my tea caddy and were'nt there the day before.
I can't find any in the cupboards or anywhere else,I'm very particular about leaving crumbs ect out as we get ants.
So I don't know what they could be feeding on.
I thought they were carpet beetle but we only have wood and stone floors downstairs.
I've never seen them before
Any ideas. Thanks.

Well I've just found flour weevils everywhere this morning and they aren't shaped like lady birds.
have you tried googling images of weevils? You might see a pic on there that can tell you what they are. OK laborious way of doing it but you might get lucky within first few pages.

    Hi there,
The Natural History Museum have an 'Identify your bug' section - could be worth a look on there: https://www.nhm.ac.uk/nature-online/life/insects-spiders/bug-forum/?q=gallery
Hope they were 'just visiting' & haven't set up home in your kitchen, whatever they are!
  • I've tried googling and various sites but can't see anything like them.
They look like a vine weevil except they are smaller and a light gingery, beige brown colour with a ridged rounded body and the size of a ladybird.
I wish I had kept one but I just wanted them out the house.
If I do have the misfortune to find anymore I'll try and post a picture.
    Thanks.

we used to have some like that, they were carpet beetles that eat wool, silk etc

Got rid of them when we changed the seriously old carpets though.

They could have been baby vine weevils, they have ridged rounded bodies and are speckled gingery. I had one in the house a couple of weeks ago, they are quite small. I squashed it and flushed it down the sink, they wreak havoc in my garden I don't want them on my houseplants too! Ugh.

Oh I think that's what they might have been.
They looked like very minature ginger ones. These had ridged bodies too and fell dead when you touched them just like the big ones.
I have a terrible problem with vine weevils outside.
Funnily enough a while ago I found an adult vine weevil walking across the wood floor in the hall and never though anymore of it.
I just thought it may of walked in throught the back door.
    Oh dear......
    Better check the housepants now.
    Thanks.
