Debt free, bad credit rating - unable to get a mortgage...

At present looking for a mortgage, I am debt free but my bank will not give me a mortgage as I have a bad credit rating...How do I overcome this problem??? Would appreciate any advise to overcome this problem....

Are your credit files up to date and accurate?
If your bank still won't help, speak to a broker who can include sub-prime lenders in their search criteria.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

You need to expand on this but generally you'll need to speak to a broker.
What is your situation - first time buyer or do you own your home outright?
how much deposit do you have saved up?
What is the bad credit exactly?0
