Job application help - BR isn't a criminal conviction?

Hi folks,

I'm sure I already know the answer but just wanted to check. An application form I'm completing asks about Criminal convictions, cautions, warnings, reprimands and bind overs. BR doesn't come under any of those does it?

Thanks

  • Bankruptcy is not a criminal conviction no, however, if anyone takes the mick and goes bankrupt more than once then the court can take steps to make it so i beleive (i'm sure i will be corrected :D )

However, as it stands, its not a conviction. What it may ask for (Depending on the job) is if you have any CCJs etc. Being bankrupt, you will have them and its worth declaring it there.

Bankruptcy is dealt with by the Civil Court and therefore is not a criminal matter, never will be even if you go bankrupt more than once.

Being bankrupt doesnt mean you will have CCJs. (If that is what you meant damoandclaire)

  • definitely isn't criminal (I had a CRB request for my latest job and pondered the very same) - couple of hundred years ago maybe...

Sometimes applications for jobs (assuming thats what it is) asks for credit history checks and ask you to declare such info - where you would need to specify it

    Good luck with the application.....
  • Thanks for the help. I filled it in as I'd thought. There is a CRB check but no mention of any bankruptcy info. Written a long speil based on the person spec so going to leave it till tommorow (or should I say later today) to read it again and finalise bits.

Good luck with the application LATE....fingers crossed. xx
  • Thanks SSA, recently realised that I've got everything else in my life sorted and it's my job making me ill! Been off on annual leave for nearly two weeks and I am so relaxed, dreading going back and know I'll feel sick driving to work on Monday.

Didnt mean that you will have CCJs as a result of the bankruptcy, just that you may already have them as most people who tend to go bankrupt tend to be in direstraits anyways. :D

i was unsure about the criminal thing tho. thanks for clarifying :)

Thanks for the good wishes. I'm just trying to fill in the references section - got them but they want current employer so not sure what to put (but I do have the option of them not requesting reference until after the interview).
