Where can I get a free credit report

To help consolidate my debts I am after a credit card with a 0% balance transfer so that i can cut down on my loan. But I would like to do a credit check first to see what cards i still have opened from years ago.
How do i do this? Also what would be the cheapest option for me on getting a credit check?
