Any herbal knee pain remedies?

My other half has got terrible knee pain he has got Spina Bifida Hydrocephealous and his gait is different to everyone elses so not simple, he has had a cartlidge op 2 years ago but he hardly stand now and it's really getting him down as you can imagine.
Appointment with his doc in 4 weeks time ( soonest app available) but wondered if anyone has any good herbal ideas for him
