BR and Studying

Hi

I am looking at starting an open university course and i will be able to get the £500 conrtibution towards it from ILA Scotland, but for the remainder of the 4000 fee's i think i can pay monthly.

will i still be able to do that if i am BR? Or won't i be allowed?

Thanks
MBDF

Hi, I have had spread payments with the OU in the past and they don't credit check you and they don't ask if you are BR. This was about 5 years ago.
  • Thanks for your reply

But will the OR accept that i use money to pay that or will they take it towards an IPA?

If you provide evidence that you are paying tuition fees from the OU then they will.

Study grants and loans are not used by the OR for IPA purposes.

And on an OUSBA account, they will credit check you and it will appear on your credit file - mine is still earning me little green 0's even though I haven't "borrowed" anything for a few years! Even having a detrimental credit rating, they still allowed me an OUSBA account to pay of my tuition fees.

Thanks Skylight but not sure if i am explaining myself right

If i had 150 surplus a month and my course fee's were 70 would the OR argue for me to stop paying the fee's? so that they could impose an IPA

    I see.

So the question is are the course fees an allowable expense???? I would put them down anyway.

If they are not included the you would (in your example) have a surplus of £150, of which you will have to pay 50%, the remaining £75 you can spend on whatever you like such as the fees.

How is your income made up?
