Court hearing - What happens next?

Hi everyone,

this is my first post. Today I went to the county court with my bankruptcy forms, signed everything, paid my fee and the forms were seen by the judge but he didn't actually want to see me. I was given a form no.6.30 which says i was today at 11.10 adjudged bankrupt. The clerk told me that the official receivers will contact me within 7days.

Does this mean that I can go ahead and open a basic bank account for my ddrs and wages or do i have to wait for the OR. At when are the people i owe money too no longer allowed to call me or write to me?
Is there any more advice people can offer me?

I cannot wait for this awful weight to be lifted and be able to resume some sort of normal life again

You can open a new account now, no problem, you don't need to tell the OR about the new account.

You can tell your creditors to bog off now too, enjoy!

Creditors will keep calling you for a couple of months yet - it takes some of them a little while to get the message!!

Just quote your court, court reference and OR's details to them every time they call and tell the to correspond through the OR from now on.

Hi, we're BR as of Monday, It's a massive relief, phone plugged back in and I don't mind answering the phone now, I'm confident and know my rights and procedures so no more quivvering wreck talking to the bullies.

We were with the judge for no more than 30 seconds, asked us if we'd had financial advice, looked at how much we owed, looked at income and read our statement as to why we're in a mess.
