Hi all
at 10.45 today I was declared bankrupt... Here is what happened (a familiar story no doubt). :T
Got there early like you do and was first in the queue (of 2 of us) at 10. Half hour with the clerk to check my forms and then up the stairs (via a security woman, rifling through my bag lol) to see the judge. Place was packed with whatever was going on but 5 minutes after I sat down I was called through. So so quick! Judge was lovely, he asked if I had taken advice and said well I am a debt adviser but yes I also took independent and impartial advice too, the firm in question said I could do DMP but half of my creditors wouldnt play ball so therefore I could consider bankruptcy and to take further advice on that, so I said I did (with myself and you!).
My biggest fear was that he would turn me down or suggest an alternative method, he mentioned IVA but he said that this wouldnt be any good due to my debt. So he was happy this was the best course of action. I was so relieved at that moment in time!
He asked me how I felt and I said surreal! We then had a chat then about who I work for and the numbers going bankrupt in my area.
All in all, over very quick, lovely clerk, usher and judge.
That's it, I'm debt free - amazing.......
Thank you all so much for your kind words and advice, simply the best :j

hoorah!
Glad it went well for you.
now you can relax and tell your creditors to "bean off" when they call you. No more worrying about phone calls or what's in the post!
Look down your nose at me and I thumb my nose back at you.

Sorry but you have to smile
Glad it all went well and good luck for your new debt free life :j:TWhen you're going through hell, keep going! You will get to the other side eventually.
Falling down is NOT failure, failure is not getting up again!

Just told my first creditor to "bean off" antartica! She was quite good really, we shall see...
And yes Yokel, I wasn't laughing but I'm a little better now but I did say it in a nice way to the judge :-)
Thanks guys
