Since admitting our debts etc, food budgeting is somewhere where we have cut back enourmously. We now have a spending diary keeping tabs on food money we spend and the money we just otherwise spend, no matter what it is.
Also we have stopped shopping at Asda/tesco. We used to spend around 80/90 a week there for myself, my wife, my 4 yr old son and a 1 yr old (nappies etc included)
We now shop at about 3 different places and although it's a pain, we have saved so much. We buy our fruit from Aldi because it lasts and it is very cheap. We shop at Nettos and Heron too mainly. We have cut our shopping budget to around £50 a week give or take £10. I am not kidding and our cupboards are just as full. We have also stopped take-aways/eating out saving about £100 a month.
All in all, a change in our eating habits has saved us around £250ish a monthLBM - 30/07/09

unsure who this is aimed at?
for me any extras on food is out of the extra income such as bonus/overtime that the cccs dont take in account. also gets used for birthdays/christmas.0 -
i just shop at tescos. for me driving to various shops to do the various bits of shopping is pointless so i just do a tesco online shop. never been impressed with lidls etc.0

We have had to change the way in which we shop simply because it was crippling us. Possibly with the temptation of things like 3 bottles of wine for £10 lol
Anyways, the problem with them is that you cant get everything from one place. We have to use all of them to do our shop but it saves us a lot. Online shopping didnt work for us simply because we missed off so much.
Everyone just needs to find a way that works for them...LBM - 30/07/09

I'm simply saying that if you can afford to save half of your earnings for holiday spending then you this is money which should be going to your creditors. If you are truly in debt crisis then you can't afford a holiday. Sad but true.LBM 30/6/9 Unsecured debts [STRIKE]£25,323.48[/STRIKE] £0 :T Debt free

lol dont buy wine! at the time i tried shopping at either aldis/lidls i found that the stuff i wanted was just the same price as tescos so made no difference to me personally but i do know it works for others.
well done on bringing it down and making a good saving.0 -
wasnt a proper holiday as such ie two weeks away but even so you can still have holidays on a budget! we just had a few days away and getting bargain rooms at the travel lodges, discounts for the places we wanted to get in to. we only just started that system back in easter but that money bar being overtime was also the money set aside for entertainment clothes and so on. we dont buy clothes every month and even when we do they last for ages plus the inlaws buy the kiddies stuff . being a family of six we proably have a bigger budget than yourself.0
