hsbc 5 year fixed rate

been looking around for a new fixed rate , ours ends in November
found this and just wondered if someone could claify something for me

5 Year Fixed £999 4.95% 31.10.14 Currently 3.94% 4.5% APR

above the 3.94% on the website it says Then our HSBC variable rate for the rest of the term does that mean if we have five years left after that then that will be the rate or does it mean thats their variable rate and if it goes up then so will our mortgage rate if that makes sense
what I really wanted was a ten year fix for around 5% but don't think I'm going to get that
