P11D wrong - employers useless...

in Cutting tax
My employers have issued a P11D (taxable benefits thingy) for me for the last three saying I recieve a medical benefit I don't recieve. Despite numerous phone calls and letters they still have not corrected this nor supplied me with a copy of the P11D's. Anyone know where I stand on this? Surely they are legally obliged to send me a P11D as its a tax statement?

Your employer has to give you your P11D each year (by 6th July I believe). Have you spoken to the IR to tell them you don't receive this benefit?

My advice is to write in the white space on your tax return stating why the P11D is incorrect. Alternatively you can have an argument with your employer but that is not usually a good way to win friends!0

Thanks for replies.
I spoke to the IR regarding the P11D being wrong but not about not recieving it. They told me I have to get the correct P11D issued as they will not take my word that I do not recieve a taxable benefit.
I think I'll get an appointment with the head of HR and have a go about this. I'll threaten to complain to the IR about their not issueing tax notices, which should get her attention.

Just before you go off the deep end, does your employer have your current adddress.
If you've moved and not told them they may be sending them to the wrong place, as I don't know how you get your payslips and you may get those personally that would not flag it up.0 -
Yes they have my current address. A quick poll in work last night reveals that no one has had a P11D, ever. Only half of us had P60's last year. Hmmm.

P11D is only issued to an employee who has a taxable benefit such as a car or medical insurance, so that will perhaps be why your fellow workers havent ever had one.
Quite often if P60s are stapled to payslips they get put away (or go in the bin) without being looked at.0 -
My colleagues all get the medical benefit so they should all get P11D's. I'm one of only 3 out of 400 who opted out.
