Help please with chosing the best foundation for me, Clinque Mac or Prescriptives?

Hi ladies
Some help in chosing a foundation please. Theres just soooooooo many to chose from.
Ive done a search and the brands I will chose from are Clinque, Mac and Prescriptives foundation.

My requirements are: A liquid foundation, Long lasting, Brand to have lots of shades ( one to suit me perfectly).

I currently have a Dior foundation which i now think is not right for me anymore. I have one of the lighter shades & had 3 Dior employees tell me this is the right shade for me however when i put it on i have to then rub most of it off as it leaves a really bad foundation mark around my jawline, hairline an rub it on more on my cheeks and forehead- so i really dont think that this foundation is right for me.

If you used any of these brands foundation could you please let me know what its like? also if you could specify which Clinque, Mac or Prescriptives foundation that it is you use as i see each brand has several types. thanks :D

    Feedback for Clinique Stay True-
Good for avoiding tide mark as it doesn't go 'darker' (hence the name- the colour stays true)
Great coverage so good if you have problem skin
Might be a bit heavy for those who aren't using it to cover up anything in particular
I use a pressed powder on top, this lasts about 6 hrs without need to re-powder
When I add a primer underneath, can get up to ten hours wear without touch ups.
Is intended for those with oily skin, so you may find it difficult to blend if your skin is dry.
    Hope this helps.

Currently I'm not wearing any of these so cant give direct feedback on them.

However with regards to the right shade, forget what the sales assistants say. Test the shades on your jaw line (not wrist) and just say to the sales lady you want to see how they develop. Then go outside with a mirror and check over the next half hr or so (the in store halogen lights are no good for picking the correct colour foundation). The shade that dissapears is the correct shade (not any lighter/darker, ashy or orange etc)

It depends how much coverage you need. I use Clinique Gentle Light foundation and i love it. I dont need much coverage though. I never have a problem with tide marks as it is nice and sheer.

I'm still happy with Clinique Supermoisture, but of course depends to a point on age and skin type!

Hi, I think you should consider looking at Estee Lauder Double Wear range, the whole range is long lasting and there is lots of different finishes and they are fabulous at giving out samples, the three companies that you mentioned are all part of the Lauder Group anyway also worth considering are Bobbi Brown foundations, again part of the Lauder Group:)
Thank you for this site Martin

Unless you're using the very lightest shade in the Dior, why not try a lighter shade? I had the same problem as you, the salesgirl recommended a particular shade which I knew was going to be too dark, but she wasn't backing down. I did try the lighter shade and she conceded I was right.

I'm fair skinned and I've found for me, Clinique is a little too dark, and even the lighter shades don't look right.

If you're very very fair skinned, have a look at Nicola Roberts Dainty Doll range, which come in three very pale shades.

Thanks for all your feedback, much appreciated.

alias123- Thank you for your tip. Your so right, the amount of times ive thought my foundation was fine then gone outside an looked in a mirror and relised it wasnt fine. However i think this is mostly due to me not having the right foundation for my skin.

Bronnie- Thanks I didnt see that thread when i done my seach, will take a look.

glowgirl- I didnt know about the estee lauder foundation so have a research into it;)

judgejaq- I'm using the 2nd lightest foundation, the lightest was too light on me when i tryed it and the 2nd lightest (current one) is a bit too dark i think so think i'll try another brand.

gunsandbanjos,shell_girl & flippin36- Glad to hear your great comments on the Clinique foundation range.
I'll go to the counter and take a look at Clinique Stay True, Clinique Gentle Light & Clinique Supermoisture and talk to the lady, see if any of these suit.

Hi bit late to this discussion I know but have a go at the Clinique superbalanced foundation. Its light and gives good coverage. I got a sample of it last time I got my 3-step and I would definately buy it. I'm quite pale skinned and this is great......... not too dark and not too light

I would also go for the Estee lauder double wear too.Its simply the best(imo),and I have tried them all lol.I dont like Clinique foundation as it always goes orange on me...and thats the key, its what suits your skin. Its trial and error im afraid.Try and get as many mini makeovers in department stores as you can and see what looks and feels right on you.
I appreciate Each and Every win. I thank every comp poster from the bottom of my heart :A
