Went BR yesterday

Hi all,

Finally went BR yesterday :D Firstly, thanks to each and every one of you that has helped me get this far, your advice and help has been priceless.

In case it helps others, here is a quick account of my day in court.

Appointment was for 9:15am and I arrived about 5 mins early. A friend came with me (wife is ill) for moral support in court and physical support as we planned to hit the town afterwards ;). I took three copies of the (online) forms, the fee, and a little beer money.

I was called into a room at about 9:25am and a very friendly lady went through my forms just ticking a few boxes and inserting my middle name where it was needed. She did this on two forms and returned the third to me as my personal copy.
She also explained that there was no chance of my BR being refused and that I would not need to see a judge, though once the BR order was made I would need to have a quick phone call with a clerk from the OR's office.
Next she asked if I would swear an oath on the bible and I explained I would rather not so she said we would use a 'promise' instead. She spoke the words, I repeated them and that was it, simple. I then paid her the fee and got a reciept in return and we were asked to return to the waiting area. All in all about 10 mins if that.

At about 10:15am I was called to another room with a telephone, the same lady that dealt with me earlier explained that I had been declared BR, she gave me my BR order and an additional two copies explaining they may come in handy for showing creditors. She also had the OR's office on the phone and I spoke to the OR clerk. She asked a few questions about who my mortgage was with, what bank accounts I held and also gave me the opportunity to ask any questions though I had none at the time. She then put me on hold for about 5 mins and came back with a date and time for the OR interview, just ten days away (19th Aug). She also said they would be sending me a BR pack requesting some information and that it had to be returned to them by 17th Aug. That was it, again no longer than 10 mins or so.

I then left the court a free man, though to be honest their was no immediate feeling of great relief. It was a little strange, I was relieved it was all over (except interview and sorting house out of course) but can't say I felt elated, I still feel kinda bad I had to deal with things this way. Today though, I do feel more relaxed and think things will just get better from here on, I'm sure I made the right decision. :T

We opted to celebrate back at my house so popped in Asda and grabbed a few different fruit juices, some cider, big bottle of vodka and made the best punch i've ever had :p The reason for me not posting this yesterday.

I hope this helps to show just how easy the day in court can be, it really is not worth worrying about.

Thanks again everyone.

Regards,
dack

Congratulations dack, once it all sinks in, you will start to feel better and more relieved, I didn't instantly feel relieved either but it gets lots better.
