Portraits

It is my sisters silver wedding anniversary in June and she has always wanted a family portrait doing. I was thinking of getting it sorted for her and paying for it but where is best to go? We live in the North West. Does anyone have any experience of things like this, idea of cost etc.

Thanks in advance.

  • It depends on where in the North West you are as to where to tell you.

Near to Warrington. I would prefer a recommendation rather than just getting someone from the phone book if possible.
  • Don't know if you know it but we went to a place in Davenham, Near Northwich for my Mum's ruby wedding and the results were great, not sure on price but there were 10 of us and he managed to get everybodys expression just right (you know how you look at a picture and think that is just so and so!) all on one photo, also did some in black and white too which was unusual I thought but lovely results.

That might be a little too far for them to travel out to.
  • TJ hughes in Liverpool have a fab family portrait section.
Cannot remember how much it was though it was inexpensive compared to others.
    Quite close to you too.

Personally I'd suggest avoiding the "Venture" chain, nothing wrong with their products or service, in fact they were very good but just so damned expensive! I've found word of mouth locally to be a good way to find a decent photographer.

I see what you mean about them being expensive. I have been getting quotes locally over the phone and they range from £85 to £350. Spoke to Venture and they have quoted me £1,120.
