I really like Sainsburys minty stripe toothpaste. At only 47p a tube its a bargain!! As far as i'm concerned it does the same job as any of the well known brands.0

Used Colgate as a kid til they changed the formula and it didnt feel as fresh anymore so changed to Metadent P for many years and they THEY changed it to gel type which also doesnt leave your mouth feeling minty fresh. Havent found one I like yet. Did use Colgate Herbal but our local shops stopped stocking it.. currently trying MrS Basics..
Colgate Herbal is my favourite... I found it in the market and now i get it from the pound shop...I can't find it in the supermarket either. My all time favourite is Himalaya Ayurvedic I swear it whitens your teeth a bit. I get it either in India or diretly from Himalaya herbals' website. For everyday , I stick to Colgate herbal... the local indian shopkeepers smile when I got in because they know I will get a few tubes if on offer (plus moisturiser/oven cleaner/razors/vaseline body lotion/etc...one pound plus or less!0 -
We have a dental hygienist come into the school I work at to teach the children, (in a fun way), about keeping teeth clean. She had an empty tube of value toothpaste with her, (the kids were pretending to put toothpaste on a toothbrush), and I asked whether this was as good as, say, Colgate. She said as long as the toothpaste contained the recommended amount of fluoride, then it didn't matter what you used, whether it was the value range or Colgate's most expensive.
She also mentioned that some of the children's toothpastes on the market weren't worth buying as they contained less than the minimum requirement of fluoride.
Still don't know if I can bring myself to buy value toothpaste...It's wouldn't have not wouldn't of, shouldn't have not shouldn't of and couldn't have not couldn't of. Geddit?0 -
I read somewhere that tesco toothpaste is approved by british dental association
I use colgate, buy it on offer, just got two pumps of sensitive whitening from sainsburys for £3.14 on 2 for 1 offer, its removed coffee stains really well as my teeth have recently got quite stained after my starbucks addiction0 -
going off thread here slightly, can anyone tell me what toothpaste has the mildest mint flavour and not the iso ones as they foam a lot.
my ds hates strong mint flavour can barely get him to put it in his mouth
and when we tried the aquafresh iso it justs foams too much which makes him gag! strange child i know.
he is using aquafresh childs 6+ mild mint at moment which he tolerates.

You can get fruity toothpastes, not sure if they are adult ones though.
Here is an old thread talking about fruit toothpaste http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=863579&highlight=fruit+toothpaste
Also a quick google brought up a brand called Halos & Horns http://www.chemistdirect.co.uk/halos-n-horns-toothy-fruity-toothpaste_1_154486.html

Me too - mint makes me gag (and I have been an adult for quite a while now!!). So I have developed a brushing technique that avoids getting toothpaste anywhere near my tongue and gets round the problem.
I use Mentadent SR which is available in Wilkinsons but not for some reason tescos, it leaves your mouth tingly fresh and is about 89p a tube.0 -
I always use the Tesco's ones - sensitive for my daughter and ordinary for us. It is approved by the British Dental whatsit! And it tastes good. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

My hygienist said the same - the cheapest of the cheap will be just as effective as a more expensive type if the fluoride levels are the same.0
