Direct Line Home Insurance Renewal

Been with Direct Line for house insurance for two years, and renewal notice has just come through.
House bought & mortgage paid in my name, hubbie who's BR has no BI in it, but question is do I have to notify Direct Line he's a BR ?
Seen plenty of posts that BR permenantly affects Home Insurance costs, but is that just for when you do a new quote.
My worry is there was a post on here about a boy who went BR, his parents didnt tell insurance company & their claim was nullified
BTW - what is the insurance companies reasoning for this attitude to BR (even discharged ones & years later) ? I've never claimed on any home insurance on over 15 years, hubbie hasnt either, ok he's just gone BR but actually he's now a better bet than pre-BR and I know many non-BR people that the home insurance people should be targeting because they have wrongly claimed numerous times.
Sorry rant over but this issue really gets my goat :mad::mad:
Off to do breathing excercises to calm down .......

Cos us BRs are scum..........
You should call Direct Line to check. Its not worth the hassle of paying the premiums and them not paying out. A lot of places are AOK with BRs, the Co-Op being one (I called them to check and quidco cashback, and were the cheapest for me!)
City Slicker has a nice thread/poll going on regarding this matter and taking action.0 -
Skylight - thanks for your reply
Will ring Direct Line & be honest, they can either stick with me or lose a customer.
P.S. BR's not scum - if the people on this forum are anything to go by the rest of soceity could use a healthy dose of the support & help given. But get your point there is still element of being treated like dog's doodoo's :-pDMP Mutual Support Thread Member : 3180 -
Just thought id add that i recently changed home contents insurance to Direct line from Tesco and asked them if they had a problem with me taking out a policy with them if i was BR, they said they have NO restrictions regarding BRs taking out insurance policies with them.
Checked their terms and conditions and i couldnt find anything anywhere regarding BR.0
