Iam thinking of registering for VAT (not by way if income, just to recoup some of the money).

I had a shop, but that has nowgone and Iam selling items as and when I can (Iam still registered S/E), can I back-register for VAT for the period I had the shop ?, if so how far back can U register, and how long do you need to stay registered for before you can un-register ?.

I sold mainly 0% goods, so can I restospectively go back over incoices and work out what VAT went out and what should have come in, and then claim back the difference ?

How do HMRC look at it for people who register, claim back VAT and then de-register ?
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
