Late payment of parking fines, charges and baliffs

If your friend cannot afford to put money in the parking meter, maybe she cannot afford to own the car?
She could get rid of the problems by selling the car, using the proceeds to help pay off the charges, and not incur the tickets going forward.
Public transport is the way forward here - unless your friend can prove other wise.0 -
Where she lives there is no public transport to get into the City Centre.Previous debt: £14K :embarasse Debt free: Sept '03

but she has several tickets so must have done this several times. she needs to address what she's doing, and sadly you cant do this for her.0

I know, but she has a lot on at the moment, long story. By coming on here I hope I am helping her as I'm passing on the information to her. She was really interested to hear about the bank charges thing and has asked me to sit down with her and go through her old statements. With a bit of support she is finally starting to address her problems, which is great. It is easy to hide your head in the sand, but unfortunately these things never go away!
It's not one way I promise, she is very supportive towards me as well. Her strengths lie in other areas, I now, thanks to MSE, have strengths in the budgeting and finance areasPrevious debt: £14K :embarasse Debt free: Sept '03MFW#42 Mortgage OP savings £4271.18/£12000 2019

She may have a lot 'going on' in her life but so do a lot of people; we all make mistakes and so one parking ticket is unfortunate, but is the truth of the matter did she thought they would all go away and so it didn't matter that she got more as she couldn't afford to pay? It is great that you are supportive but you may find bailing her out when she still has a mystery ticket unaccounted for may not be the way. She has got to stop getting tickets, no excuses just don't break the rules, or face the consequences herself. She obviously didn't learn from the first ticket and now she has found herself a way out?0

In my friend's defensive, I should add she has already written me a cheque to pay back the first fines as she doesn't like oweing me. However I am going to ask her to pay the final outstanding fine with that money...otherwise I might have pay that  .
So, if she pays the other fine, stops getting more charges and then pays me I'll be much happierMP

OK, fair enough!0

I saw a program on Tonight with Trevor Mcdonald about parking charges being wrongly issued in a lot of cases - I saved the following link to a website that was mentioned - here - I haven't had time ot go through it all but it certainly made good reading.
Maybe this will help your friend.HLK
