Thankyou to everyone for all the advice over the last couple months.:A
I have spent the last 3 1/2 months trying to get advice and info to get me and my DH thru the mess that our lives have become. Due to redundancy, illness and a huge drop in income we are now facing BR. I am so scared for our future and feel I have let down our kids big time.:(
I have spent so long getting info, hours on the phone speaking to professionals, trawling the net, finding out about mortgage rescue schemes, about renting, viewing houses, speaking to LA's. I have been to the Council, the CAB, had the British Legion round, spoke to our mortgage lender, had advice from community legal aid. I have written letters to creditors, spoken to the local OR office, to the local court. I have sat thru a 2 hour meeting with property management co who thought they might buy our house AND really its all been for nothing, I really thought there was a way out for us, maybe I would find some miracle that meant we could avoid going BR.
However it has been this forum that has really shown me the personal side of BR, I have read so many posts, so many peoples stories and it is a real inspiration to know that people out there have been thru it and survived. The practical info I have found here, I could not have found anywhere else and it is helping me face up to what we have to do. Sorry just a bit tearful this evening:o Thanks everyone.

Hi Hun.
No need to apologise for a few tears.....its part of the grieving & realisation for what you have been through. You have sought the information & explored all the options.
You have done your absolute best to find a solution...BR is indeed the last resort but it is also a new begining too.
Good luck next week....we will all be with you in spirit you know.

I know this may not be very comforting but bankruptcy for me was definately the best thing I ever did and definately a new begining.
I'm now planning for my two kids future (had them since becoming bankrupt and being discharged) and I simply would not be able to do that, had I not gone bankrupt. Since sorting myself out on that front (going bankrupt and the like), I've turned my self around and have a nice home and a fab family
I agree totally with So Sad Angel - definately a new begining!!On the Keyboard of Life - Always Keep a finger poised over the Esc Key! :rotfl:0 -
BR isn't the be all and end all of everything. it's a second chance and a new beginning to get things right and enjoy life.

As the others have said time for a new start, draw a line under the old life and all the worries.
Good luck with the BR and look forward to hearing how you get on - it will be fine & a lot better than things are now :-)DMP Mutual Support Thread Member : 3180 -
Thanks for all the replies:A
I know I need to look at BR as a fresh start for us, I just never realised there would be so many emotional ups and downs. Its felt like a really long battle so far and we are not even BR yet!!
Still today we are opening our co op account (fingers crossed) and will fill in BR forms at weekend. Our plan is to go to court next Monday/Tuesday (drop in service) Then we will just face problems as they happen.
We have decided not to move out and rent (this dilemma has caused alot of heartache) as we still dont know if we are doing the right thing by this. Im fully expecting us to have to move out at some stage but will deal with that when it happens.
Im going to try and look to the future, I start a college course in Sept as a mature student;) and I am hoping this will help me in finding a decent F/T job next year. I even have an application form to volunteer at my local CAB:D for when im not at college. This may or may not happen, we'll see.
Well im ready for whatever BR throws at me and I know you guys are here to help, so thanks everyone :T will keep on posting, just dont get too sick of me:o

Hey Angie,
Good luck with it all hun... it was me doing the court thing last thursday.
I just have my OR interview to go & then I think it will finally sink in & maybe I will start to think about mine & my families future then.
I will be thinking of you

Very best of luck Angiepange, I was declared BR yesterday and it all went very smoothly and the court staff were very kind. Interview with OR next Weds and after that we have some hard work to do to try and keep the house. The important thing for me is that now I'm BR the hard work we put in won't be for nothing, we have the opportunity to really achieve something.
Warm regards,

Hi
Thanks everyone for some really kind replies.:A Having the support here means such a lot. I wish all of you well whether you are BR now, have been or will be soon.
Just been down to open our Co Op cashminder account, no problems with that, so the ball is rolling so to speak!! Forms to tackle next, not looking forward to that bit:eek:
Seem to be feeling more up beat, could be the result of taking action at long last and the support here is a real help.
Will keep updating and hope I can be of some help to others.
