Does anyone have any views on selling handmade items on folksy.com?

Advantages....Better than trying to sell them on Ebay as it's hand made stuff only. From what I can remember, it's also cheaper than Ebay.
Disadvantages.... not wildly known so not that many 'shoppers'0 -
Etsy is better known, so more customers0

Depends on what you are selling, if it's jewellery, then Etsy is flooded with it at the moment, plus you have to list everything in US dollars.
There is also MISI (make it, sell it) which is another UK one0 -
Jo_F and Raquela,
Thanks for your replies. I'd like to sell costume jewellery, but I guess I should start small rather than selling on etsy; it's a very good place for inspiration, though.
I've never heard of MISI. I'll check it out.0 -
I have a shop on Etsy selling sock monkeys:D did ok for a while but just struggle to find the time to make them anymore let alone fill a shop:eek: I have left one on there to keep the shop open but I tend to just make them to order now. It is quite competitive on Etsy and your listings can get buried really quickly. You really need to list or renew an item everyday on Etsy to keep near the front pages and this can work out quite expensive.Feb GC £80 per week (Well I'm gunna try:whistle:)
Diet starts today(31/12/16)! Only 18lbs to lose:eek:
4/2/16 - 13lbs to lose:D
11/2/16 - 12lbs to lose:D
3/3/16 - 11lbs to lose:D0 -

Your sock monkeys sound fun!
Just out of curiosity, how much does etsy charge you to list them? What the percentage of the sales do they take? Would you have to pay extra to renew it every day?0 -

Yes they are quite funny(see above:D)
Etsy charge 20 cents everytime you list or renew an item and 3.5% of the selling price when you sell an item.Feb GC £80 per week (Well I'm gunna try:whistle:)

The monkeys are absolutely adorable - well done!! :T
As my craft items are very cheap, it wouldn't be realistic to renew them on etsy for 20 cents, but thanks for the information. I guess it should cost about the same on folksy.0
