want to consolidate but credit rating is 'very poor' cos of too many credit cards(!)

Evening everyone. I really do hope someone can offer me some advice here.

Basically I have 5 credit cards and £22k debt spread across them. I make at least the minimum repayments every month (often more) and always on time. I've had 4 of them for over 4 years. I really want to consolidate all this debt into one loan. however i've been refused a loan as i have a poor credit rating as i have so many credit cards with high limits. i don't want to get more credit on top of what i already owe - just want all my debt in one place so that i can reduce the monthly payment and get a better interest rate. i can cleary afford the repayments as i'm paying more at the moment and i always pay on time - all green zeros on my credit report. i'm on electoral role etc.

anyone got any ideas as to what i can do to get out of this catch 22?

many thanks in advance

shanti
