I'd be interested in any responses to this too as this is effectively what I do with my partner...

do you pay any Gas, electricity or water, or just one payment to your dad

Then you can't put anythng down for them. What you can do though is agree with your dad what would be a reasonable contribution now that you are not saddled with debt repayments.

Hi yamaha, the OR looks at it differently with a partner, in that it is worked out as a joint contribution to all the household bills based on your respective incomes. i.e if she earns twice as much as you she should pay twice as much towards the household bills or visa versa

This may sound odd but what if you don't know what your partner earns? All I know is EVERYTHING is in his name and I pay an amount to him each month to cover 50% of the bills. What if I was to say I was his lodger? I don't suppose he's on much more than me but if I start saying "I'm really sorry but I'm only going to pay 40% of the bills from now on" I can just imagine the response!! We've only been living together since May this year and I don't really want to end up out on my a**!

Could I describe my situation in a similar way to the OP?

Yamaha - why can't you just put that you pay 50% of the bills - you don't need to know your OH's income you just put the contribution which would be 50%.

SJG - it is easier if you make all your posts in one thread then we can remember your situation without having to trawl through lots of other posts.
