Hi,
My mum and her partner have been contacted by a company called SLS Ltd (they have a website) telling them that reclaim money from a policy held with Abbey National to cover sickness absence with a mortgage, and they paid an upfront fee of £99 (they were told this would be refundable and that the company would take 20% of any fees reclaimed). Has anyone heard of this company, or is this even a legitimate claim to get fees back from previous agreements? The company knew of the agreements held by them, and called them, so assumed it was legit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds very dodgy to me.
Most MPPI plans are sold correctly and cannot be reclaimed.
The ones which are considered incorrect and reclaimable are single premium versions and those added to the mortgage or if you are not eligible for cover. In other words, if the premiums are paid monthly from a current account and you are eligible then there is very little chance of success. The company knew of the agreements held by them, and called them, so assumed it was legit.
Policy details are not available to third parties. So, if they have that information then they have obtained it by foul means.
