Long life milk question please??

Hi, I have some tesco long life milk which has a best before date of 15th July 09. Is it likely to still be safe to use or should I throw it away. I don't want to waste it and would just use in tea or coffee etc. It is not very much out of date so I am thinking it should still be ok. Advice please?? :D

If it's a best before date then it should still be perfectly fine to eat after the date, but might not be at it's best.
Worst case scenario - open it and sniff, if it smells ok, taste a small bit, if still ok then go for it, otherwise chuck it out, but I would imagine it will still be fine - it's only been a couple of weeks.

    It's only a game

I concur with this. I have a related question though: if you store *unopened* longlife milk in the fridge, rather than at ambient temperature, is the "best before" date effectively extended? or does it make no difference?

I have to say, that is a good few weeks there- and plus the temperature of late, I would definitely give it the "sniff" test (or my favourite- pour it into a cup and see if its lumpy- but maybe before having boiled the kettle especially...)

Am presently drinking long life milk which says best before may 09 and have been for a while, got a load with vouchers, tastes fine, still have about 10 bottles left so will keep on drinking unless I grow two heads or something!
