Credit score worry!

I know mortgage companies are very strict about who they lend to at the moment. I have just over 25% deposit saved to buy a house at some point which i hope looks good to a mortgage company as it's all saved not gifted( I know roughly size/location of house we'll buy). I have tried to make sure i have as good a credit score as poss. but am kicking myself today!

Credit card ( which i have paid in full every month since i got it about 10 years ago) rang me to say I'd missed a payment! I was on holiday so couldn't check my records at home -i always write on the bill the date i pay.

When i got home i found I had jotted down the date that it was paid, rang my bank and they checked online records and found that I hadn't 'completed the transaction' ie my first time paying online i had missed out filling in one box and the payment didn't work!

My credit card were quite good- they waived the fee and interest as I rang up and reminded them that this is really unusual and I am a good customer. They say it will be marked on my credit score now :oas a missed payment. How serious is one missed payment of £70 (now paid)?! Am I being silly or is there anything I should/could do about it?

PS i WAS accepted for mortgage with Abbey in March but house purchase fell through and offer ran out soon after.

if you have a couple of cards and you have made a couple of payments on time in a row after that late one . . . and its the only missed or late payment in the last 12-24 months then you should be fine. Especially at or below 75%.
