Hi all,
popped in to TMC today, to buy some number plates, and my oh saw these up on a high shelf - allegedly dwon from £69.99 to £49.99. but the bargain bit is the fact it comes with both 12V AND Mains power leads - unheard of!
The stores mainly seem to be in south/east - but there might be one near you - link below:
http://www.tmc-online.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=RC89600&categoryID=216
It heats as well, by the way - we tested it today in the cold setting, and chilled it for about 3 hours, then switched it off for another 4 hours, opened it up, and the beer inside was still nice and cold, as we are tasting it now!

Appears to come up with delivery at £2 so can't you just get one mail order? Or have I missed something?Joe

Blimey, I hadn't noticed that - £2 to get that delivered is a bargain!
We did buy the one from Woolies last weekend, but when we took it to maplin it transpired it was a 4 Amp unit and the mains converter would have cost £30!
So we took it back - this one works out £10 cheaper - s and seems better quality.

Hiya - as I have just measured up the coolbox as requested on another forum, thought I may as well post the stats here:
The depth of the opening at the top of the box = 21.8cm
The width of the opening at the top of the box = 32.1cm
The depth of the box at the bottom - ie where food will sit = 19cm approx
The width of the box at the bottom = 29.5cm approx (Both approx as the bottom is slightly rounded at the edges)
The divider section, that is removeable, can fit in one of 2 slots, both of which are approx 11cm away from each edge - this divider goes from front to back, so pretty much portions off 1/3rd of the space, and I believe is designed to stop two 2 litre bottles from crushing the rest of your food!
Blimey, I have just found it on this site for £104.67!

I've now found it in only 2 other places online, neither of which are TCS, for £60 & £64 respectively - so £49.99 is the best price by a good margin.

Obviously the Argos version doesn't have 240v as standard but i think its probably safer that way if its being used outside !
My query is :- Would a normal 1.5v to 12v plug-in transformer available from Argos (similar size to a phone charger) be sufficient to power this if it was inside a tent etc :rolleyes:0 -
Similar thing £29.26 delivered here though admittedly it's pink! Not sure about dimensions but it's 15litre capacity. They do other ones too - I bought a silver one for £40 a while back as a pressie.
Just one thing - these things are NOT designed for 24/7 operation. Also, it's not a "fridge" - it's based on a peltier-effect pad and removing the heat requires a fan which is quite noisy IMO. I certainly couldn't sleep next to it but then I'm a light sleeper.
Not sure what you mean there but these things will use a fair bit of power - you'd be able to get away with a car battery thoughWould a normal 1.5v to 12v plug-in transformer... ...be sufficient to power

i was thinking about one of these for a power adapter, don't really think it'll be 'man' enough:undecided
Didn't realise that this type of product couldn't be left on for two or three days at a time, i am looking for something for a weekends worth of camping, back to the drawing board :undecided0 -
Those are AC-AC adaptors, you need AC to DC if you want to use 12V - I seem to remember it's about 50-60W power so you don't really want to be using one of those (it'd need to be several amps output). However, if it runs off the mains, why on earth are you wanting to use an an adaptor instead of a mains extension cable?curtlyb wrote:i was thinking about one of these for a power adapter, don't really think it'll be 'man' enough:undecided

In terms of leaving it on, lots of people DO leave them on - it's just that they're not designed for it so if it catches fire or something, then it's bad news!!!The thanks button is here to the right.
