Hi I am going to go bank rupt later in the month as i have failed my IVA due to loss of my old job - I now have a new job but less salary. When I arranged the IVA I opened a basic Halifax easycash account this was the only bank that would give me an account - this is a very basic account but suits me - however I will have to declare this on my statement of affairs and OR i beleive then owns this account - I get paid weekly and there will be a salary credit into the account weekly and I am unsure if the OR will still allow me to withdraw funds for living costs and bills. If not then I will need to open a new account and inform my employer of the new account details very quickly - however I found it extremely difficult finding an account during the IVA set up - it took a week to sort at least. what should I do - my wife is also going BR she has a seperate account and all direct debits debit that account as well as her salary credit so she is in the same position as me .any help would be appreciated thanks

Halifax will close your bank account, they have a strict no BR rule. Try Barclays or Co-Op as they are BR friendly. More details are here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=16396550

Hi 1967,
There are 'managed bank accounts' available. These are not ideal for everyone and they do cost money each month. They more or less guarantee you a account.0
